The symbol of royalty and class: Silver Plated Tea Sets
Silver tea sets are paraphernalia of regalia, beauty and art. These have been passed on from a generations to another as a token of value and royalty. These could be complete silver based, silver plated or made from sterling silver. Silver plated tea sets are more in demand because not only these hold the traditional value and cost of silver but also available in contemporary innovative designs and patterns. Silver plating is done through the electrochemical disposition on a metal. Earlier, the electroplating was done on Nickel and other precious metals which nowadays are sought after by collectors and tea connoisseurs due to their date back value and precision.

A silver plated tea set generally include a tea pot, cream pitcher, sugar bowl and waste pot. Some sets also feature add ons like strainers and other serving accessories. Patterns like Neoclassical, Rococo, Regency and Victorian are in very trend. Neo pattern displays ancient Greek decoration. Victorian and Regency patterns are more famous in antique collectors.
Silver plated tea sets can be long lasting and kept for the future generations but only if handled with care and cleaned properly after every use.
Silver shines its best when these tips should be followed for the clean up:
1) Silver plated tea set should be stored in lacquer coated or polyurethane varnished wood box. This reduces the rate of tarnishing or stains in silver.
2) These sets should be washed with a non –lemon detergent.
3) Silver cleaner should be used to remove the light stains or tarnish on the surface. A soft sponge or non- lint fabric is used to dry or clean after use.
4) A horse hair brush should be used to clean the inside edges and necks of the components of tea set.
5) A non aloe liquid should be used for cleaning and clear the strains. The strains or fixed tarnishes on the internals edges or cervices should be cleared using a tooth- pick.
